Heavy snowfall having no impact on natural gas supplies
Prague, 11 January 2010 – Natural gas flows without any troubles to all RWE’s customers even in the areas hit by heavy snowfall. The heavy snowfall in these days has no impact on natural gas supplies, and the entire RWE’s gas distribution system works reliably.
Heavy snowfall has no impact on natural gas consumption which largely depends on outside temperature. The gas consumption was rising gradually since the New Year’s Day and leveled off at an average daily volume of 35 mcm on 3 January 2010. This figure quite corresponds with normal January consumption at an average outside temperature ranging from -4° to -5°C.
RWE CZ is very well prepared for this winter. We have long kept our underground gas storage facilities full as a precausion against Russia’s possible cut in its gas supplies. Presently, the gas volume stored in the CR’s territory comes to nearly 2.2 bcm.
