Helping Others
RWE belongs to the most important sponsors in the Czech Republic. Its name traditionally makes an inseparable part of the prestigious Prague Spring Music Festival or the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and it also is connected with the preparation of the Czech Olympic and Paralympic teams.
Starting from 2006, the RWE Transgas’s sponsoring activities are united with those of four regional gas distribution companies. The RWE companies have thus created two long-term projects to support culture – the Czech film and sports – the Czech skiing (RWE – the Energy of Czech Film, RWE – the Energy of Czech Skiing). More than 60 million CZK are earmarked for these activities and charity each year.
The humanitarian activities of RWE Transgas are focused primarily on helping children, seniors and the handicapped. This support is provided by the company primarily through non-for-profit organisations and foundations to which the company is a long and stable partner.
RWE – the Energy of Czech Film
It is a long-term project of RWE supporting the Czech actors and documentary film. It is focused on helping new film projects, popularising filmmaking, supporting young film makers and searching for new talents in the area of screen writing. Thanks to the project, RWE performs the role of a co-producer or a general partner of three to five full-length pictures a year, a co-founder of the RWE & Barrandov Studio Film Foundation or a partner of FAMU. It continues, at the same time, its traditional partnership with the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival which it enlarges in the area of supporting the documentary film by the general partnership with the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival.
RWE – The Energy of Czech Skiing
RWE is a partner of seventeen ski centres and skiing schools in Bohemia and Moravia. It is a long-term project aimed to secure higher safety, broader service and better orientation of the Czech skiing public. It includes, for example, new marking of the downhill runs, installation of large panoramic maps and other electronic information systems. Supporting the snowfall forecast on TV Panorama programme and the Czech TV teletext pages also contributes to better foreknowledge of the skiers. Similar, by the help of the project RWE – the Energy of Czech Skiing, is the function of the www.holidayinfo.cz information portal on the Internet.
The charitable part of the project is focused on helping physically handicapped skiers. As a partner of the Monoski Team, the Group partakes in the operation of the Handicapped Skiers Centre.
Czech Olympic Team
RWE Transgas is the general partner of the Czech Olympic Team for the years 2009 - 2012. A long-time supporter of Czech Olympic athletes, our company has substantially increased its backing for Olympic sports and joined three other general partners. The gas distribution company RWE Transgas has been a partner of the Czech Olympic Team since as early as 1997.

Prague Spring International Music Festival

Czech Paralympic Team
The Czech Paralympic Team brings together handicapped athletes who currently represent or have represented in the past the Czech Republic at international competitions – Paralympic and Deaflympic Games. The achievements of these athletes prove that people are able to make their dreams come true despite obstacles life has placed in their path.
RWE Transgas is the official partner of the Czech Paralympic Team, supporting some 17,500 handicapped athletes who participate in the paralympic movement.
